Download the Virtual Appliance

Select virtual platform you are using in your data center and download the virtual appliance image. If you have chosen the packed version of Virtual Appliance, unpack it before continuing.

Open Virtual Appliance

Open the Virtual Appliance in the console of your virtual solution. E.g., start VMWare Workstation and choose File / Open Virtual Machine in the application's menu and press OK. Check network settings of the Virtual Appliance and boot it up.

Point your browsers to Virtual Appliance

Set up your internet browser to use the proxy at the IP address of the Virtual Appliance and port 3128. To find the IP address assigned to the machine log in to it using provided credentials and type ifconfig in the command prompt. The virtual machine has a DHCP configured IP address preinstalled. If you wish to change it to something more suitable for your network see the /etc/networking/interfaces file. In this case you may also need to adjust entries in /etc/resolv.conf to correctly specify your network DNS servers. Also ensure the /etc/squid3/squid.conf contains the corresponding "acl localnet" entry for your network.
